A Jelly
Anna's specialized A Jelly (patent pending) is a natural thickening system containing a sea-based ingredient from natural resources. We add this specialized blend to better thicken our skin care products without adding plasticizing polymers or other questionable chemicals.
We have patented the A Proprietary Blends of organic ingredients, blended for different products. A Jelly contains a Proprietary Thickening Blend which includes:
A thick organic aloe vera gel, naturally thickened with a seaweed derivative rather than the plasticizing polymers found in most gelled products. The seaweed extract is extremely nourishing in itself, containing many sea minerals. The added Hyaluronic Acid is one of the best known skin emollients, making our natural thickening system one of the safest and most skin nurturing on the market today.
Agar Agar
Derived from Gracilaria (Gelidium species) which is a bright red sea vegetable with the botanical name of Gleidium purpurascens. Due to its high gelling properties is considered the queen of gelling agents. Agar Agar is a polysaccharide found in the cell walls of some red algae and is unusual in containing sulfated galactose monomers (gelling agents). It requires nothing but extraction from red algae and purification to become agar. Agar added to liquids simply gels them into a convenient solid form. Natural agar agar is unflavored producing a firm, clear jelly and is rich in iodine and trace minerals. The flakes are produced by a traditional method of cooking and pressing the sea vegetables and then naturally freeze-drying the residue to form bars which are then powdered or flaked for easier packageing and transport. Agar Agar has stronger setting properties and, unlike gelatin which requires refrigeration to set, it will set at room temperature after about an hour. It is primarily used as a gelling agent, but is also utilized for its emulsifying and stabilizing properties.
