natural skin tips

The ABC's of Skin ~ what you see on the facial skin is a direct reflection of what is going on inside your body.

Please note that health starts on the inside. Even the best skin care in the world will not give you a smooth and glowing complexion if your diet consists of a high refined sugar content and/or you are full of toxins (whether constipated or contaminated).

A ~ EXTERNAL Hydration, Nourishment and Protection: the water moisture level of your skin must be controlled - hydration is a MUST for the tissues to function properly. This hydration stage is nourishing and balancing to help create healthy skin so that it can begin to heal and repair itself with a diminishing of uncomfortable symptoms by allowing proper cell function. This hydration and nourishment must be sealed in with a bio-compatible oil moisture barrier so your skin is protected. This barrier must be a 'breathable' one so that it does not suffocate your skin and allows the interchange of waste by-products, gases and oxygen.

B ~ INTERNAL Nourishment: your skin must be nourished and oxygenated for proper cell regeneration, tissue function and crucial support of the immune system. This support starts on the INSIDE of your body. Pure water and a proper diet are necessary. Without proper nourishment your skin cannot begin to repair itself and sustain a recovery period. "The body is in a constant state of repair but if we do not have all the necessary 'parts' the body will produce weak, dysfunctional cells."

C ~ Treating your body as a WHOLE: this includes your mind, body and SPIRIT as one, which is known as holistic medicine. Proper sleep and exercise are vital. Fresh sunshine heals your skin with warmth and vitamin D. Keeping a light attitude helps you to cope with stress. And, laughter IS the best medicine! Your healing begins through the olfactory nerve and skin absorption of aromatherapeutic Essential Oils contained in every product and used during *MASSAGE of your skin. Bob Hope had a massage every day and contributed this health care to his longevity!

Observe these tips to correct:

1) ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR. Once in a while, instead of using cleanser, moisturizer and/or toner, mix about 2-3 cups of distilled water with 1/2 cup raw organic unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar. You can buy this at any health store and it's not expensive. Apple Cider Vinegar is extremely antibacterial, alkalizing, and soothing to the skin. You could also mix Apple Cider Vinegar into your mask instead of water or toner. This is a very deep cleanser and nourishing to the skin. Also, consider taking saunas, steam baths, or at home ~ very hot baths with the door closed and the heat turned on very hot. Throw some mineral salts or seaweed into the water. You will sweat out a lot of toxins and feel great. Afterward, cool off with a shower and splash on some watered down Apple Cider Vinegar. You will look and feel fantastic.

from Monica
Hi,
I just want to let you know that last night, I used raw, organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar that I bought at Whole Foods, as a toner. It worked great! My skin was so smooth after, no doubt from the malic acid in the cider. I was reading on line quite a bit and found mostly great reviews from people who have used it, too. Some people said it burned their skin, but I'm pretty sure those people forgot to dilute the vinegar. I diluted it in a spray bottle. It was suggested to use 50/50 (50% vinegar, and 50% distilled water), but I put just a little more water, because I have sensitive skin, and it worked great! I looked at several vinegars at Whole Foods and they all seemed to be diluted already to 5% acidity. However, I still diluted it again when I got home. I only felt a slight burning sensation on my forehead, but no where else. My face wasn't red or itchy or burning at all. What a nice change from when I used to use Avon Glycolic Acid pads and felt such burning and itching! My skin was just as smooth as when I used those, and they were 10% acidity, I think. What a great, inexpensive toner to have and how convenient to buy! I thought you'd like to know my results so you can keep it for reference.

2) EXFOLIATE DEAD SKIN CELLS. Use a small soft loofah sponge that is barely damp to exfoliate all the dead skin cells and dirt which clog pores. Washing with just your hands may not be enough because you will not scrub away some of the dirt and dead skin cells. Scrub very softly with your face cleanser.

3) RAW GARLIC - NATURE'S MOST POTENT HERB. Here's one you probably haven't heard before, so keep an open mind. Get ready for garlic. Only the real thing will work for you - not pills. This means organic and raw. Put at least 3 cloves in a blender with juice and drink it down. It will make the drink a little spicy, that's all. Here's what it will do for you and your skin. Garlic is the best, most effective broad spectrum antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal herb. It kills all the bad guys without harming any of the good guys. In fact, in laboratory tests, it has been diluted to 1 part in125,000 and still killed bacteria. So, yes, it's great if you get sick or have a virus of any kind. It's great for your heart and blood - whole books have been written about it, but remember, it must be raw. Your skin will have a real tough time breaking out if you have some raw garlic in your system. Just drink up then brush your teeth and use some mouthwash.

4) DRINK LOTS OF CLEAN WATER. Distilled is the purest water available. Drinking water throughout the day will keep your body effectively flushing toxins through your kidneys instead of your skin. Remember, your body is about 70% water and if your cells get dehydrated, they will not be able to function well. You must have an abundance of water to perform every task the body requires which of course includes repairing damaged cells which will help your skin heal and keep it healthy.

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Okay, I've been spouting for years that distilled water is better for us, that it does not leach minerals out of our bodies, that it detoxifies better, yada yada yada. Now here is an article ~ thanks Lynn! ~ that puts it in plain English. WATER

5) Do not over-wash your face. This is the hardest thing in the world to do if you're broken out. But, if your skin is dehydrated, then your body will over-produce oils to replenish your overly dried skin thereby causing acne. This becomes a vicious cycle whereby you have to wash your face to keep it clean, but washing too much can actually cause you to break out! It is very important to promote the natural balance of your skin by not washing more than twice a day and also using products such as moisturizers and toners that don't clog pores.

6) YOUR SKIN IS BEGGING FOR NUTRIENTS. Make sure you are getting all the nutrients your skin needs to stay healthy. It is vitally important you are eating and drinking NATURAL NUTRIENTS all day long. An obvious one is Vitamin E - a great source for this is Unrefined Wheat Germ Oil (about 220% RDA of Vitamin E per serving) which you can get at any health food store.

7) CLEAN OUT OLD WASTE. Once you start eating better and giving your body what it is begging for on a daily basis, you will start to feel and look much better. It is also vitally important, however, that you also clean yourself out so all of the toxins stuck in your body go out through your colon instead of your skin. Begin by doing a colon cleanse. This will get you going to the bathroom 2-3 times a day and clean out your colon as well. Eat a lot more fiber as this will keep your colon clean and greatly increase your body's ability to eliminate toxins. This doesn't just mean a bran muffin in the morning or "whole wheat" bread. Sorry, that just won't cut it. You need to eat a lot more whole grains (wild rice, brown rice, millet, quinoa), fresh fruits (blueberries, dates, figs, etc...), fresh raw vegetables chewed well, beans (not re-fried or with lard), and nuts (raw, unsalted).

8) Get a good shower filter. (about $25). Filters will take out the chlorine, fluoride, copper, pathogens, viruses, dirt, and other horrible pollutants. Studies show that a ten minute shower is the equivalent of drinking 8 glasses of tap water! Remember, you're trying to clean your skin and hair. The last thing you want to do is add in more toxins that will age your skin, dry your hair, and make you break out.

9) CUT OUT THE SUGAR. Some Researchers call acne "Diabetes of the skin" meaning your body has great difficulty digesting sugar. Cut way down on sugar for a week or two and see if there's any effect. This includes soft drinks and every other food that contains a high quantity of sugar.

10) CUT OUT THE JUNK. You're going to hate this one, but you should also attempt to cut way down on all of the toxins you consume everyday in the form of processed foods, caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, chocolate, cheese, cream, eggs, fried foods, hydrogenated oils, margarine, fish, meat, poultry, and butter. This may seem totally extreme and I'm not suggesting you never have any of these things again, but I am saying all of these foods are laced with antibiotics, poisons, chemicals, insecticides, herbicides, toxins etc.... Eat with awareness and sensitivity so that you know what your body and skin react to the worst.

11) Get an Aloe Vera plant. (about $5) or second best, pure organic Aloe Vera gel. If you have any scars or red marks, break off a small piece, break open the leaf and apply it everyday. Guys, when done shaving, rub the gel on your neck and tender spots or cuts. Ladies, same goes for your legs and bikini line. Aloe Vera has been used for thousands of years and has been called a "miracle plant" for its healing properties. Watch razor burn diminish and cuts heal quickly without any scarring. Scars will literally fade and disappear. I believe that a growing plant is much more powerful than a bottled gel simply because it's alive and therefore will have more potent properties.

12) USE ALL NATURAL SKIN CARE PRODUCTS. Use skin care products that don't create free radicals and attack your body with more toxins. Use products that will nourish, protect, and clean your skin with nutrients without causing irritation, dryness, acne, or any of the other serious problems associated with almost all commercial skin care products.

13) Wash Your Pillowcase and towels frequently. There is a tremendous build up of dirt and oils from your hair and skin. Anything that touches your face should be clean and fresh.

14) STOP TOUCHING YOUR FACE. This may seem painfully obvious, but if you become aware of how much you touch your face during the day with dirty hands, you will be surprised. You will find acne developing wherever you scratch, rest your hands or play with your face. Watch carefully during the day.

TIP: without sufficient healthy fats, the skin is unable to seal in moisture and the skin will become dry. Healthy fats come from avocado, nuts and seeds, olive oil, and cold water fish such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel. However, many people are on no-fat or low-fat diets. This deficiency will be particularly noticable during the winter months and can create very uncomfortable dry skin with itching. If you are depriving your skin from the healthy fats it requires, you may want to consider a supplement such as 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil per day or 1,000mg to 2,000mg of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids (EFA's) per day. Also, a B vitamin known as biotin will help extremely dry skin conditions. Biotin has been shown to help normalize the natural oils in your skin. Use 1,000 - 3,000 mcg as a therapeutic dose. Use 100 - 500 mcg as a maintenance dose.

TIP: for a serious tooth whitening technique that is safe for tooth enamel and does not cause sensitivity, soak your teeth in the gel used for ear Wax removal. Simply fill the mouth guard trays that you can purchase in the sports section and soak your teeth for 10-15 minutes. This wax removal gel contains carbamide peroxide, the same peroxide that dentists use in their professional whitening treatments. PS, this tip comes from a dental hygenist.

TIP: attitude is everything! There is a physical-mental-emotional chemical connection that enhances your feeling of well being and is directly reflected in your face.

TIP: if you notice just one side of your face is constantly breaking out and that happens to be your favorite sleeping side, try a fresh pillow case every night or try sleeping on your back.

TIP: brush your lips when you brush your teeth, a quick way to exfoliate this mucous membrane which is not 'regular' skin, this is why your lips dry out so easily. Short of certain medications or having been ill, this is a good indicator as to your internal hydration level: hydrated lips = hydrated body.

TIP: inversion twice a day every day for two minutes. Try the yoga head stand or shoulder stand, hang upside down, use a slant board...these does wonders for fighting gravity, putting internal organs back where they belong, anti-aging, circulation booster, and mind clearer.

TIP: your skin absorbs more chlorine in a ten minute shower than your body could by drinking tap water all day long. We strongly recommend a water filtration system for your dwelling. If this is not possible, then consider one of the shower head replacements. It's amazing what this will do for your skin and hair!

TIP: when brushing your teeth, keep the foam off your face, especially if you have a tendency towards little bumps on your chin, this could be an allergic reaction to the chemicals in the paste.

TIP: skin considered to be the 'third' lung in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

TIP: light skin has a higher tendency to wrinkle compared to dark skin.

TIP: sunscree and sunglasses go hand in hand to prevent wrinkles, age spots, a leathery texture, and perhaps even save the retinas and skin from cancer.

TIP: combat acne with zinc, Vitamin A, B & E, echinacea, noni, tea tree oil and thyme.

Tip: an ideal position to give rest to the body and a line-free face is to lie on the back with the knees elevated by placing a pillow or cushion beneath.

* For our cells to function properly, water or H2O must turn into H3O.OH. Cells damaged by trauma, age, stress, toxins, inadequate nutrition, even the sun, lose their ability to turn H2O into H3O.OH?

* When cells do not contain H3O.OH, they do not properly take in oxygen and nutrients, eliminate wastes or properly reproduce themselves ~ in fact, they suffer damage to their DNA?

* When cells function improperly and DNA is damaged we get everything from weakened immune systems to scaring, sagging, wrinkling, aging, and degenerative diseases?

* That over 90% of diseases are caused by damage, not genetics, to our cells?
