Mascara Removal Technique

Spread one pump lotion cleanser or vegetable oil between middle finger and thumb, gently massage only the lashes to dissolve waterproof mascara, take a facial tissue and place between middle finger and thumb so that you again encase only the lashes, gently wipe lashes free of softened mascara, this saves tugging on the delicate skin of the eyes, now use your facial cleanser to cleanse face of foundation and eye lids of eye shadow.

This technique will make a vast difference in eye skin firmness.


To enhance performance of all Anna Bellina cleansers, consider using a toner instead of water to lather and apply to skin (please note that this can also apply to our creamy cleansers that do not lather).

Decyl Glucoside
Next time you see an advertisement that says "no sulfates, no detergents" ask the manufacturer the INCI name of their surfactants. Do not settle for coconut derived, ask for the INCI name -- for example we use Decyl Polyglucoside in our super gentle face wash - we do not say derived from sugar. It has deduced from the results obtained that, of the surfactants tested, the one showing the lowest irritant capacity is decyl glucoside.



Ideally, the cell turnover occurs every 28 days, but when this slows or is not enough then an exfoliant is the best way to assist this natural skin process. Mature and dry skins have an under active system and the natural exfoliation process has slowed to as much as every 60 days which causes a cloudy complexion with a flaky dryer layer of dead skin cells with fine lines, wrinkles, dull color, and folds of skin to develop. A sallow complexion could result with enlarged pores and a sagging tone. Oily and combination skins have an over active system and the natural exfoliation process can't keep up, resulting in a rapid build-up of excess oil and dead skin cells which leads to the appearance of large pores, clogged pores, sometimes resulting in blackheads. If inflammation sets in, the result is acne.

Most skin care regimens have no exfoliation, or too much. If you never exfoliate, you will never have a fresh, dewy, young-looking skin because old skin cells and impurities will continue to accumulate on your face. If you think you need to be aggressive in fighting aging, you might use harsh chemicals like Retin-A and glycolics, which dry, irritate and sensitize the skin over time. And letting everything build up for a month or two or six and then doing a drastic method like microdermabrasion or medical peels only makes your skin cry out for help.

As we age, cell turnover slows down. Exfoliating skin encourages new cell growth. Historically, people used sand to physically abrade or exfoliate their skin. There are basically three ways to remove surface skin cells:
1) Physical exfoliators � cleansers, scrubs, manual microderm, loofahs, exfoliating gloves, etc.
2) Chemical exfoliators � alpha & beta hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic), TCA, phenol, etc.
3) Mechanical exfoliators � microdermabrasion, brush machines, etc.

Scrubs perform a valuable contribution to achieving healthy skin. Scrubs have abrasive particles to remove the dead dry cells on the top layer of skin. Keep your scrub in the shower and use it two to three times a week. Benefits of using a scrub include:
1) encourages cell turnover at the lower layers
2) deep cleansing and removal of excess oil
3) massages skin to improve circulation
4) polishes and softens skin
5) evens skin tone

I had ordered the Exfoliant - you must have changed it? It used to come in a little tub and it was a lot chunkier - But, I love this new one! My skin does too! It seems to be reacting better to it than the O Cleanser. I have very oily skin and with the warmer weather it gets worse of course. I have been spritzing with toner throughout the day and that helps a lot. I also noticed my skin is softer and the lines between my brows aren't as deep. Your stuff is the best my dear!!! And I tell anyone who will listen!

Quite a while ago I ordered some of your Patricia's Selection samples. Unfortunately, they didn't work for me, so I continued in my search elsewhere, and found out that was a very stupid move. Anyway, eventually I found another chemical free line, Sircuit Skin. I was impressed at first, key word...at first, and after spending a fortune, now my face is a mess, and I had good skin to begin with, although it's extremely sensitive. Before I only had the occasional blackhead on my nose, and nothing else. Now my pores are all clogged, and my forehead, nose and chin have tons of blackheads, and I've broken out a lot too, which I never did before. ...last night I used the Exfoliant, and WOW, I left it on for 10 minutes and my face looked so much better! I couldn't believe it, after just one application! I think my face is on it's way to at least looking normal again, fingers crossed.

I ordered this product back when it was new and have used it a few times, but never payed much attention to it. Well, lately my skin has been funny, really dry on my cheeks and forehead (not sure why, but am thinking it's due to the rapid change in seasons we have been experiencing here in Oregon). Anyhoo - I have been trying EVERYTHING in my AB arsenal to make this gross dry skin go away and used the Exfoliant on Tuesday night and had gorgeous, soft, not dry skin! Just to make sure, I used the mask again last night - Skin is still great!! Soooo, if you are having dry skin problems, this mask works wonders!! I love AB!! (I need a bumper sticker, lol)

The Exfoliant has become my new darling. So quick, so simple, easy to apply from the squeeze bottle. When I rinse, my face doesn't feel tight or stripped; it feels fresh and hydrated with a lovely, tingling glow. I actually feel deeply clean, especially when I use a toner and the cotton ball wipes away clear. I just wanted to let you know how much I LOVE your Exfoliant! As soon as I started using it, I noticed a GREAT improvement on my skin especially my pores, they look almost invincible and that has never happened before no matter what I have used. The Exfoliant made my skin feel softer than any exfoliant I have ever used. Amazing! Skin looked clearer and brighter right away. (Thanks for the reminder to exfoliate.) Crystal Cream will be a staple for me. It rinsed off easily.... skin was incredibly silky feeling!


DIRECTIONS

1. In the palm of your hand, dispense cleanser then spray 3 pumps of toner, mix and gently apply to dry skin in circular motions using finger tips. Leave on for up to 2 minutes, rinse well with tepid water and gently pat dry. By using this application you are not diluting your cleanser with water, but are enhancing with nutrient rich toners and stepping up your skin care regimen.

2. For optimal results follow with appropriate serum and moisturizer. Please remember in the am to always follow with Sunscreen to protect from future sun damage that you are in the process of reversing with Anna Bellina serums.

Minimizing Acne Scars and Red Marks
By using the Skin Polishing technique with the Exfoliator up to 4 times a week, scars and marks can br gradually reduced with consistent use. Gentle pressure in numerous circles, going in both directions, is the secret and not pressure. Too much pressure can injure skin and connective tissue.

A facial mask creates a cocoon for the entire face, eyes, lips, neck, decollete, and back of the hands. The soft easily spreadable syrup should be applied totally covering all skin, creating an occlusive barrier that prevents any exchange between the skin and air. This will create a "suffocation" effect whereby the nerve endings in the skin tissue send a message to the brain that says "help."
