Product Purpose

Each all natural organic skin care product performs a specific function for the skin, with the intended purpose of creating a healthy and beautiful skin. Our formulas are all natural, organic and chemical free, allowing the skins innate healing response to regenerate a healthy skin.

The first step towards healthy skin is proper cleansing. Cleansing the skin with organic facial cleansers removes oily residue, makeup, dead skin cells, and waste by-products. The face should be cleansed at least twice daily. Morning cleansing removes the overnight build-up of impurities and airborne particulates. Cleansing skin at night removes makeup, oils, bacteria, pollens and pollutants.

A face cleanser is only a superficial skin cleaner, designed to loosen and lift light makeup, pore debris, waste by-products, air borne pollutants, dead skin cells, excess sebum, excretions, and secretions. A well balanced and gentle cleanser cleans without compromising the natural pH or acid mantle of the skin, or stripping the protective lipid barrier. The cleanser is usually rinsed away with warm water. However, a slight trace of cleanser residue and loosened pore debris will always remain on the skin which must be removed for deep cleansed pores. The best removal method is toner damp cotton pads. Then, and only then, do you have truly clean skin!

The most important cleansing is the one performed in the evening. City dwellers are more susceptible to air pollution which contains sulfuric chemicals. These air borne particles react with the skin and are partially converted to sulfuric acid which is dehydrating and harmful. This is also when makeup and mascara need to be removed with the N Cleanser. Our serious heavy makeup and waterproof mascara remover is the N Cleanser is it does not contain exfoliating beads, thus is very gentle for delicate eye tissue. The morning cleansing may be omitted if skin is dry or sensitive. Simply freshen skin with toner on cotton.

A facial toner, tonic, floral water, or astringent is a hydrating skin conditioner and the most important step in your skin care regimen! Your skin is left impeccably clean, hydrated, and prepared to accept additional moisture and correcting ingredients. A pure skin conditioning liquid that does NOT contain alcohol, acetone, or other harsh ingredients will perform several extremely important steps: deep pore cleansing, add water or moisture hydration, assist application of product, absorption of product, provides nourishment, balances skin, and sets makeup.

This is one of the most important steps in your acne skin care regimen. In order for skin to repair itself with it's innate healing ability, it must be kept HYDRATED. The #1 skin condition is dehydrated skin but also the easiest to correct. Please read the "Toner Myth" to understand why hydrating and wiping are so very important.

All cleanser residue, pore debris and impurities must be removed. For best results from any toner, always use it on a soft, wet cotton. The treatment toners, DNO Toners, are more medicinal to seriously correct a skin condition. The single Hydrosol toners are a bit more aromatic and not quite as correcting. After using, you have a truly deep-pore cleansed skin, with minimal debris remaining in the pores and on the skin. Otherwise, this debris will be pushed deeper into the pores as you apply a serum or moisturizer on top, building up to a congested skin condition. If this pore debris is allowed to remain, then it becomes pore plugs: new oil and old dead skin cells are trapped underneath, becoming impacted and extremely difficult to remove, resulting in blackheads, possible inflammation and even blemishes. Worse yet, if the pore plugs become dry from dehydrated skin, then you have impacted plugs and extreme congestion.

Treatment Serums or Serum Actives are the strongest product and the crux of any skin care line, used to spot treat or area treat skin for correction of unwanted skin conditions. Potent ingredients are blended for targeted skin correction. The formulas are very concentrated which is reflected in the size and cost of the product and must be used sparingly.

Eye Serums, Creams, Gels are designed to help visibly diminish the ever-deepening network of lines and the appearance of fatigue and discoloration caused by sun exposure, smoking, squinting, allergies, and pollution. The select ingredients hydrate, moisturize, and nourish this special area yet the formula must be light enough so as not to weigh down the delicate thin tissue or leave a greasy residue. Ingredients are usually included to address puffiness and dark circles, a very common occurrence for this area. Other spot treatment serums would be blemish serums and expression line serums for targeted correction of smaller areas. Serums are not moisturizers. Puffiness and discoloration will subside with regular use. Follow with a hydrator to add water hydration then a moisturizer to seal in that hydration.

An eye cream, firming eye cream and anti-aging eye serum can make a significant difference in the appearance of the 'windows to your soul', framed with the thinnest skin found on your body. This skin is very fragile and delicate, without sebaceous glands gracing the lower lids to lubricate and protect. No matter how gentle we are, this is where the first signs of aging will affect most of us.

Our “2 Step Moisturization System” offers a duo ~ gel hydrator and lotion/cream/oil moisturizer ~ working in tandem, that we believe provides superior results for every skin type, especially dry and dehydrated skins. Our duo system replicates Nature's perfect moisturizer: perspiration and sebum, mixing together to keep skin moist, lubricate, and protect skin against the environment. Why two products? First, all skins constantly need hydration for proper cell function and the #1 skin condition is dehydration. Second, the naturally occurring process whereby water evaporates through the skin is called transepidermal water loss (TEWL). We don’t want this to happen so we layer the hydrator with a moisturizer to seal in the water content. Dehydration affects all skins and is the #1 most common skin condition. It is also the easiest condition to correct. Once a skin becomes dehydrated, other skin conditions develop (impacted pore debris, sluggish cell turnover, rough texture, dull color) and existing skin conditions often become worse. Our 2 Step moisturization system works wonderfully to combat dehydration.

Step 1 ~ Gel Hydrators add water moisture to the skin. Our blend of hyaluronic acid and aloe vera in a seaweed base (forms of algae contain proteins, vitamin A, sugar, starch, vitamin B1, iron, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, calcium), with select botanicals, is the perfect hydrating fluid for all skins, especially dry or dehydrated skins. This precious gel may be patted onto skin during the day, even over makeup. Not all skins may require this duo system. Oily skins and oily skins in humid climates may find the gel hydrator sufficient as the only moisturizer.

Step 2 ~ Oil/Lotion/Cream Moisturizers do not add water moisture to skin, rather they are designed to seal in the moisture which is provided by the hydrator and provide lubrication to protect skin. Moisturizers protect your skin against environmental pollution and free radical attack, which leads to aging. Not all skins may require this duo system. Dry, aging, dehydrated skins and dry skins in dry climates will find the gel hydrator necessary before the lotion moisturizer. Dry skins and dry skins in dry climates will benefit the most from the duo moisturizer system.

An exfoliator removes the dead cell tissue from the outermost layer of skin to reveal the smoother younger looking skin with healthy new cells below. This causes the skin cells at the lower layers to make new skin cells faster. Exfoliation smoothes dry, rough skin. Getting rid of the outside layers of skin reduces pigmentation spots, frees follicle openings, and makes lines, wrinkles and scars less noticeable because we've "sanded" the skin a little.

Ideally, the cell turnover occurs every 28 days, but when this slows or is not enough then an exfoliant is the best way to assist this natural skin process. Mature and dry skins have an under active system and the natural exfoliation process has slowed to as much as every 60 days which causes a cloudy complexion with a flaky dryer layer of dead skin cells with fine lines, wrinkles, dull color, and folds of skin to develop. A sallow complexion could result with enlarged pores and a sagging tone. Oily and combination skins have an over active system and the natural exfoliation process can't keep up, resulting in a rapid build-up of excess oil and dead skin cells which leads to the appearance of large pores, clogged pores, sometimes resulting in blackheads. If inflammation sets in, the result is acne.

A facial mask creates a cocoon for the entire face, neck, decollete, and sometimes the eyes. The soft easily spreadable paste should be applied totally covering all skin, creating an occlusive barrier that prevents any exchange between the skin and air. This will create a "suffocation" effect whereby the nerve endings in the skin tissue send a message to the brain that says "help." The brain responds by directing the lymphatic system to send excess blood serum to the skin. This serum contains lymph fluid and white blood cells (lymphocytes). As the lymph makes its way to the surface, it picks up excess moisture within the tissue and carries it up to the surface as well. At the same time, the eccrine gland is stimulated to excrete the extra waste products that have accumulated to fight off the "invading" mask. That is why we say that "masking activates the body’s own self cleansing mechanism" and detoxifies the skin. Nutrients are absorbed and carried deeper into the epidermal tissues due to the increased circulation. Especially if organic raw fruits and vegetables are pureed and blended into the masks.

This is the ideal time to apply a treatment serum, under the mask, that will be forced deeper into the skin with the action of the mask. Revitalizes and refreshes tired looking skin...especially suited just before special occasions as a 'beauty flash' treatment.
