Hydrosols

Hydrosols, true Aromatherapy! Also known as floral waters, hydroflorates, flower waters or distillates, hydrosols are produced from steam-distilling plant materials. Hydrosols have similar properties to essential oils but are much less concentrated, making superb skin conditioners and balancers, adding crucial hydration.

LAVENDER - This is one of the more relaxing and balancing hydrosols from our collection of flower waters. It is ideal for oily and combination skin, and is an excellent coolant for minor burns, rashes, and hot sores. Mentally refreshing and marvelous on the emotions.

NEROLI - Neroli hydrosol is mildly astringent and may be the hydrosol of choice for oily skin. It is superb for acne skin. Neroli hydrosol is a good toner and balancer for combination skin, balancing both the oily and drier areas. In the dry areas it smooths and polishes skin without excessive tightening and in the oily areas, it gently clears any oily debris that might be lurking under the surface.

ROSE - It is a wonderful toner for all skin types, an aphrodisiac with embedded roots dating back thousands of years. Rosewater stimulates the skin, heightening the blood flow. Rosewater controls and balances sebum production, making it useful for both dry and oily skin. It can balance and restore the skin's pH and helps add hydration. Its anti-bacterial properties help fight acne giving troubled skin a gentle, rather than a harsh treatment. It is an excellent anti-wrinkle treatment.

WITCH HAZEL - Witch Hazel hydrosol is the most anti-oxidant of the hydrosols and recommended for psoriasis, eczema, cracked or blistered skin, and aging skin. Soothing and anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. A wonderful toner for acneic skin as well as a free radical scavenger recommended for anti-aging skin treatments.


Bio-Actives

ALOE VERA - (Aloe barbadensis) Origin: Leaf. Aloe Vera has been used for centuries for its extraordinary healing, carrier, soothing, moisturizing properties and more. The efficacy of the aloe vera is enhanced by increasing the polysaccharide content within a range of 50,000 to 200,000 Daltons. Only through this patented manufacturing process can the Aloe retain it's biological activity and not simply the 'chemistry' of Aloe vera.

ALPHA LIPOIC ACID - (Thioctic acid) Origin: Probiotic Fermentation/Vegetarian. Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a powerful anti-oxidant that promotes healthy cell function, boosts skin's radiance, and minimizes enlarged pores and surface imperfections.

DMAE - (Dimethylethanolamine) Origin: Probiotic Fermentation. DMAE provides both long-lasting and instant 'anti-aging' benefits to your skin and body, even giving an 'anti-aging face lift' in the right concentrations.

ESSENTIAL OILS - (Sweet Orange, Chamomile, Sea Buckthorn, Lavender) Origin: Plants. For thousands of years, rare essential oils were a pure and natural source of healing power for the body and spirit, and were considered to be more valuable than gold. Today, essential oils remain the oldest form of medicine and cosmetic known to man, and are even more valuable as essential nutrition for your skin. We specialize in high-tech natural therapeutic skin care products also known as "cosmeceuticals" which utilize organic and ethically wild crafted 100% pure essential oils.

HYALURONIC ACID - (Glycosaminoglycans) Origin: Probiotic Fermentation. Also known as mucopolysaccharides; these are a fundamental component of skin tissue, and are essentially a group of complex proteins. A chemical ingredient that helps skin hold on to moisture. It is the body's natural lubricant and part of the natural moisturizing factor (NMF) or ingredients that mimic the structure and function of healthy skin. While the oil and fat components of skin prevent evaporation and provide lubrication to the surface of skin, it is actually the intercellular matrix, along with the skin's lipid content, that gives skin a good deal of its surface texture and feel. The use of GAG's as a moisturizer is based on their action as lubricants for collagen fibers, helping to restrict the conversion of soluble to insoluble collagen. HA is also offered as a high molecular weight hydrophilic material that functions as a 'molecular sponge', allowing for extensive hydration. HA also can function as a transdermal delivery system for other 'actives' since it forms a matrix on the skin, allowing increased skin penetration due to skin saturation and hydration.

PEPTIDES - (Palmitoyl oligopeptide-palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3) Origin: Oats. Mimics the skin's mechanism to produce collagen via TGF (tissue growth factor) as well as to stimulates cell communication and then repairs the age-related skin damage.

POLYPHENOLS - (Olive Squalane Oil Phospholipid) Origin: Fruit. Emollient oil for mositurizing. There are also a small number of studies showing that topically applied olive oil can protect against UVB damage It is a good antioxidant and assuredly it is a good moisturizing ingredient. Also plays a part on the natural moisturizing factor (NMF).

VITAMIN E - (Tocopheryl nicotinate) Origin: Cold Pressed Oils. Considered an antioxidant superstar. Vitamin E is a lipid-soluble vitamin (meaning it likes fat better than water) that has eight different forms, of which some are known for being excellent anti-oxidants when applied topically to skin, particularly alpha.


EXFOLIATION

Ideally, the cell turnover occurs every 28 days, but when this slows or is not enough then an exfoliant is the best way to assist this natural skin process. Mature and dry skins have an under active system and the natural exfoliation process has slowed to as much as every 60 days which causes a cloudy complexion with a flaky dryer layer of dead skin cells with fine lines, wrinkles, dull color, and folds of skin to develop. A sallow complexion could result with enlarged pores and a sagging tone. Oily and combination skins have an over active system and the natural exfoliation process can't keep up, resulting in a rapid build-up of excess oil and dead skin cells which leads to the appearance of large pores, clogged pores, sometimes resulting in blackheads. If inflammation sets in, the result is acne.

Most skin care regimens have no exfoliation, or too much. If you never exfoliate, you will never have a fresh, dewy, young-looking skin because old skin cells and impurities will continue to accumulate on your face. If you think you need to be aggressive in fighting aging, you might use harsh chemicals like Retin-A and glycolics, which dry, irritate and sensitize the skin over time. And letting everything build up for a month or two or six and then doing a drastic method like microdermabrasion or medical peels only makes your skin cry out for help.

As we age, cell turnover slows down. Exfoliating skin encourages new cell growth. Historically, people used sand to physically abrade or exfoliate their skin. There are basically three ways to remove surface skin cells:
1) Physical exfoliators � cleansers, scrubs, manual microderm, loofahs, exfoliating gloves, etc.
2) Chemical exfoliators � alpha & beta hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic), TCA, phenol, etc.
3) Mechanical exfoliators � microdermabrasion, brush machines, etc.

Scrubs perform a valuable contribution to achieving healthy skin. Scrubs have abrasive particles to remove the dead dry cells on the top layer of skin. Keep your scrub in the shower and use it two to three times a week. Benefits of using a scrub include:
1) encourages cell turnover at the lower layers
2) deep cleansing and removal of excess oil
3) massages skin to improve circulation
4) polishes and softens skin
5) evens skin tone

Minimizing Acne Scars and Red Marks
By using the Skin Polishing technique with the Exfoliator up to 4 times a week, scars and marks can br gradually reduced with consistent use. Gentle pressure in numerous circles, going in both directions, is the secret and not pressure. Too much pressure can injure skin and connective tissue.


MASKING

A facial mask creates a cocoon for the entire face, eyes, lips, neck, decollete, and back of the hands. The soft easily spreadable syrup should be applied totally covering all skin, creating an occlusive barrier that prevents any exchange between the skin and air. This will create a "suffocation" effect whereby the nerve endings in the skin tissue send a message to the brain that says "help." The brain responds by directing the lymphatic system to send excess blood serum to the skin. This serum contains lymph fluid and white blood cells (lymphocytes). As the lymph makes its way to the surface, it picks up excess moisture within the tissue and carries it up to the surface as well. At the same time, the eccrine gland is stimulated to excrete the extra waste products that have accumulated to fight off the "invading" mask. That is why we say that "masking activates the body's own self cleansing mechanism" and detoxifies the skin and reduces pore size. Nutrients are absorbed and carried deeper into the epidermal tissues due to the increased circulation. Organic raw fruits and vegetables that are pureed and blended into the masks will boost the mask considerably.

This is the ideal time to apply a treatment serum, under the mask, that will be forced deeper into the skin with the action of the mask. Revitalizes and refreshes tired looking skin... especially suited just before special occasions as a 'beauty flash' treatment.

To enhance performance of all Anna Bellina masks, consider using a toner or other liquid instead of water for powdered masks and apply a serum first.


DIRECTIONS:

1. In a small glass or mask bowl, scoop out 2 tsp mask and 1 tsp activator, mix and gently apply to skin using finger tips or mask brush. Leave on for up to 40 minutes, rinse well with tepid water and gently pat dry. By using this application you are not diluting your mask with water, but are enhancing with nutrient rich toners and stepping up your skin care regimen.

2. For optimal results, apply a serum to toner damp skin first, then the mask, for a beauty flash treatment. Please remember in the am to always follow with Sunscreen to protect from future sun damage that you are in the process of reversing with Anna Bellina serums.

Quite a while ago I ordered some of your Patricia's Selection samples. Unfortunately, they didn't work for me, so I continued in my search elsewhere, and found out that was a very stupid move. Anyway, eventually I found another chemical free line, Sircuit Skin. I was impressed at first, key word...at first, and after spending a fortune, now my face is a mess, and I had good skin to begin with, although it's extremely sensitive. Before I only had the occasional blackhead on my nose, and nothing else. Now my pores are all clogged, and my forehead, nose and chin have tons of blackheads, and I've broken out a lot too, which I never did before. ...last night I used the Exfoliant, and WOW, I left it on for 10 minutes and my face looked so much better! I couldn't believe it, after just one application! I think my face is on it's way to at least looking normal again, fingers crossed.

I ordered this product back when it was new and have used it a few times, but never payed much attention to it. Well, lately my skin has been funny, really dry on my cheeks and forehead (not sure why, but am thinking it's due to the rapid change in seasons we have been experiencing here in Oregon). Anyhoo - I have been trying EVERYTHING in my AB arsenal to make this gross dry skin go away and used the Exfoliant on Tuesday night and had gorgeous, soft, not dry skin! Just to make sure, I used the mask again last night - Skin is still great!! Soooo, if you are having dry skin problems, this mask works wonders!! I love AB!! (I need a bumper sticker, lol)

The Exfoliant has become my new darling. So quick, so simple, easy to apply from the squeeze bottle. When I rinse, my face doesn't feel tight or stripped; it feels fresh and hydrated with a lovely, tingling glow. I actually feel deeply clean, especially when I use a toner and the cotton ball wipes away clear. It beats out all the other microdermabrasion creams I have tried and the bottle is more sanitary than the jars.

I just wanted to let you know how much I LOVE your Exfoliant! As soon as I started using it, I noticed a GREAT improvement on my skin especially my pores, they look almost invincible and that has never happened before no matter what I have used. My skin also doesn't feel tight and at all after use, I don't immediately have to run for toner or moisturizer. I hope you don't ever stop making this cream!

The Exfoliant made my skin feel softer than any exfoliant I have ever used. Amazing! Skin looked clearer and brighter right away. (Thanks for the reminder to exfoliate.) Crystal Cream Exfoliant will be a staple for me. It rinsed off easily.... skin was incredibly silky feeling!

I had ordered the Exfoliant - you must have changed it? It used to come in a little tub and it was a lot chunkier - But, I love this new one! My skin does too! It seems to be reacting better to it than the O Cleanser with jojoba beads. I have very oily skin and with the warmer weather it gets worse of course. I have been spritzing with toner throughout the day and that helps a lot. I also noticed my skin is softer and the lines between my brows aren't as deep. Your stuff is the best my dear!!! And I tell anyone who will listen!
